  1. Is this the most active forum for W201 owners?

I have an 1988 2.3 8v and am planning some restoration/upgrade projects with it and will need good technical advice.

  6. The W201 is one of the nicer body styles MB made. It's a shame the forum is not as active.
There are still some die hard guys here creating some nice custom W201's.

If you have questions, I would suggest having a go with our Search feature, and if that doesn't give you a solution, post the question.

Our Facebook page took over the "social" aspect of the forum, but the forum can handle much more technical and detailed subjects.

  15. New to the forum. We are cleaning up a 1989 190E body and looking for almost all the working hardware and seals. Seems very little is available OEM. Anyway - any help appreciated - need new window regulators/motors; new door seals, door panels. Any suggestions on brands or sources greatly appreciated. Our car is in for paint and we are trying to buy out the new hardware package.

    Thank you again!

Door seals are still available, however door cards are not. Here's a tip about buying these parts recycled. It seems that the older cards used a better adhesive than newer ones, so don't shy away from used ones from an early car. The exact opposite is the case for dashboard. The early ones crack much more easily than the later model ones.

  17. Thanks for the tip! We have a 190E with the AMG 6.3 drivetrain from radiator to differential shoehorned within the stock sheet metal. A hoonigan style ride but not original to say the least. Thanks again!

  19. yes - we finally made it to the paint stage and wanted to replace all the various body hardware with OEM parts. Our last project was a BMW and it was really easy to get factory parts - never realized benz did not carry on the same level of support for this model car. but its been a very fun project. we drove the car about 700 miles before paint and it was as expected - tiny car; big engine.
