    Ant's 8v carb project

My friend Ant is making something sweet for a little 8v. He has a 190d 2.2, that blew up, I gave him the 8v out of the drift car and he's going a little wild with it. Take a peek!

It all started because this puppy is in his living room lol

Ant is switching up the build to use webers as opposed to his original plan on using keihin slide carbs. There was already a pic in that last post that hinted at this but the change up is confirmed.

  8. I'm running twin Weber DCOS/P 48's on my 16v racecar. There's just something about Weber side-drafts. I love the sound, look, and throttle response.

    What size are those?

The 8v head ID is surprisingly large, 40mm. He's using 45mm webers. The runner will start at 7" long and get cut down to fine tune it to the carb body and stack lengths.

The intake runners are pretty fat on the 8v, but the head ports are a whole different story. The flow is nowhere near that of the 16v head so with runners so wide, you lose alot of charge air velocity. When going with fat runners like that you will need to do major porting and camming to see the real benefits. Obviously this isn't a hack job though. The 8v head still flows pretty well and with a big ass exhaust to match it, you can get decent NA power.. looking forward to more updates

1986 190e 2.3-16 Nam, 5spd MT, stripped to the bone, I swear I'll start building it into a track car soon, seriously.

Mock up of the carbs to carb flange. Ant says he needs to make a spacer to fit inside the carb throat, which will line up the carb, flange and runner, making all three pieces concentric.

    Gratuitous carb shots.

Ant got the holes drilled out on the carb flange, then it was onto the runners.

To get the intake runners done Ant tried three diff tube sizes before he got it the way he wanted.

And, well, because carbs aren't enough, here's a supercharger that is getting paired with them!
