  3. Franken goes in the car on Monday. Today I finished the week's work by lunchtime, bosses are cool so I got to clean my own car over a beer and went home early, then predicted the results of the Franken tune. I'll post the dyno sheet obviously, very next stop will be Calder Park Raceway for the 400m and my prediction, we can laugh about how much of an idiot I am together when I get the time card or be impressed, I'm good either way. Here's my instinct: 12.7, we'll see how off I am. So excited about this, you've no idea

What's it running now? 14 flat, fraction shy of 6sec brake release to 100 using vid time stamp, but it's way out of tune big time, no big end at all.

  5. You're prob right. TBH I never got to Calder frequently enough to really get a handle on how much pull translates to how much time impact exactly, so for all I know what feels like "Oh that must be a full second at least" is probably actually 3/10ths, I do after all recoil at a doctor's needle haha

Half the trouble is all the current AMG I get to drive for work pickups/deliveries, C63/S, GT/S, GT/R (oh that was just a mentally insane car, do not do anything but idle around freeways if you like your license and just put it in neutral everywhere else), CLS63 (champagne soaked biturbo experience), C63/S with the GT grille (25% higher pricetag, 50% more of scaring the crap out of the driver), and you see the thing is all these ridiculous beasts do something like 10-11sec 400 off the floor. It sort of spoils your perceptions driving those things around, like being put in shock and never being able to recover.
Boss has a GLE63/S coupe he blasts around in and I've driven plenty of C43-4matic+ around and I wouldn't presume I could beat these house-priced marvels, but I have been in them enough to believe if they don't get put in Sport+ and take me very seriously, then they very well might get left behind by something 30yrs older and technologically a Viking longship. But I think that's more beating the driver than the car.
Mainly it's the A45 and CLA45 I can stand 1 to 1 against no problem. They're the most common and cheapest AMG so I've driven tons of them, mine feels quicker than a Series 1 but not one from last year and not up a hill purely because of the bad no-Franken tune. But no joke, and not the current ones or late models but just that Series 1 A45, the used lots have tons of them I drive them a hellova lot and mine is just plain more powerful and quicker to drive around than these with some kms on them in sport mode, later ones feel much more powerful and have more sports modes so they'll be tough to beat, maybe impossible but I do believe that's the scale I'm on and that's still a really quick street car and almost unbelievable from an n/a 103 still capable of passing a roadworthy.
Trouble is older brutal performers were all high 12s-low 13s and current ones are all 10s with low 12s for 4-bangers and SUVs. And this is in roughly the space of time since I bought it and started the project, how annoyed am I about that.

At the end of the day I'll be very happy if any late model high performance prestige finds that he has to go me a second time and this time put it in his best sport mode and go all out or he'll get beat again, if I can clean him up for being too relaxed and leaving it in comfort mode and just giving a squirt thinking that'll beat an old Merc tuner the shock on his face will make me happy enough that he has to take the old bird seriously next time.

  7. They'll love the way, when you lift the bonnet it still looks no different than a dead stock engine, flaky valve cover paint and everything.
"Yeah it's got a sport air filter in it," after you leave their 370Z for dead. "Don't make 'em like they used to."

Back to the rev after a long hiatus. Hope everyone is well :)

Still have my sportline, still intend to finish the swap... in one form or another.

I'm struggling with getting a rack into the car with the m113 so low - the damn rear steer geometry makes things difficult!
Have been toying with trading the m113k for a m112k... possibly E37 based. It would probably give me enough space to just put the steering box back in it!
