Just make sure you're keeping the chassis square as you rip out all the cross bracing and undo the factory chassis stiffening measures.

Build is not dead. I'll post pictures once I figure out how..
I bought another w201, it's a dark metallic blue painted white. The whole tube chassis carbon skin is on hold because of unexpected move.
I've recently bought a sheepey built intercooler, injector dynamic 1050x injectors and most of turbo oil feed and drain lines/fittings.
Currently I'm waiting on 4bar map sensor and throttle position sensor.
I also got a hks wastegate locally from a guy that has a 8s. Vette. A friend's of mine also donated a blow off valve.
The chassis has a 717.411 which I will most likely destroy, hopefully after I get a solid tune and then swap the 404 in.
At this point, I think all I need is a high pressure fuel pump and a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and I'm good to go.
Also I have Audi red color coil packs (ms3x runs them directly) and a oil filter relocation.
If you're impatient you can see some pictures on my Instagram "barimaev"

    The carbon project is awesome

You must have the patience of a saint to have drilled out all those spot welds!

    A 404 probably won't hold up any better than a 411.

I don't know the exact torque handling ability of the 404, but judging by how light the whole unit is, NOT MUCH :)

For the type of power you're planning; might want to consider some alternatives.

That's why i was joking that he's one of those crazy Swedes, with super long winters where they build crazy shit to bring to gatebil, then riga, like once a year lol. Moulding all the body shell pieces is one of the most intense things I've ever seen, insanely ambitious. My man Maxim puts it down.

Gotta chime in on that trans too, all the horsepower you want, but no more than 400 ft lbs on that 16v trans. Have a look here if you haven't seen these guys yet, you can throw all the m104 can give at these bad boys - http://mercedes.f-tune.se/product-ca.../transmission/ - the exchange rate to Swedish Krona is also very favorable right now :)

Thanks brother, I'm still driving this thing down to Cali once it's done.
What do you reckon a 717.411 can hold? My goal is 650trq, so this year I'll get it tuned for 350ish, of anyone wants a 411 (might be broken, let me know).
If I start saving up now I can get a samsonas gearbox (@mattmon) rated for 1000lbs.
By end of May I pray I'll have the engine running,it's just small parts from here on out. Really excited to get this thing running

I'm using [almost] the same transmission in my m113 swap - the ZF GS6-53BZ.

The difference between BZ and DZ variants is the DZ is geared for diesel engines and the BZ for gas, both are rated by ZF for 600NM (so ~450ft/lbs).

Bimmer boys have proven that rating to be VERY conservative!

They can be had cheap domestically, as they came in a variety of BMW vehicles, but you would need to adapt the bellhousing yourself (not terribly difficult if you can weld).

I used a 335i clutch from ACT, who were more than happy to give me all the right dimensions to have a local machine shop cut down my 8v flywheel to fit.

    225/45 16 Tire size

I'll probably stick with 3.07 for my build.

Too funny, I'm using a 3.07 as well since the overall ratio with the 716 is not too short and is pretty close to 16v 717 with a 3.27, I liked that gearing feel, save for the lack of power needed to do the sideways stuff I want to do on big turns.

Maxim, what are you thinking for your gearing setup?

    I can pick up a 3.42 for $250 or use the 16v or the 3.07 (I think, stock 8v)

  20. #100
Ive got a 3.91 if you want to go that high and quick. Same size as a factory 16v diff.

    - - - Updated - - -

you would sit about 500 rpm higher in every speed compared to the 3.27

    - - - Updated - - -

actually I was going to use this diff but my project direction changed a bit and will stay with the 3.27 instead afterall
