I like the progress. I've seen those e30 flares on a 190 before. They looked just ok, but it was a dirty hack job. With cleaner work it could look pretty decent, and probably fool the average uneducated trackgoer
1985 190e 2.0 8v forged internals, 5spd MT, EFI, 16v interior, sportline exterior, working on the turbo header now

1986 190e 2.3-16 Nam, 5spd MT, stripped to the bone, I swear I'll start building it into a track car soon, seriously.

They're from an e36, not an e30, so the body lines match up waaaaaay better. I'll divulge extra pics that show this with more clarity.

Wish I had a time machine so I could travel to the future and see how secretmachine install's that 6-speed shifter!

I had originally planned my swap to be to a 6, but immediately came up against two problems:

    - The cast aluminum shifter linkage support thing needs to be shortened.
    - The mounting hole atop the tunnel needs to be enlarged.

I felt both those tasks were beyond my skill-set at the time, so I chickened out and went with a 5 speed

Though I still have that 6mt and with a turbo, my poor little 103 is gonna run out of legs, lol

I'm going to cut that hoop up. It's waaaaay too long, just from our tape measure antics to see where it would be, the shifter would end up in the back seat, if i had one!

Here's a pic from a thread on superturbo diesel showing a dudes modifications to have it fit in a w124 I believe.

Also update, new hotness is on the way! AMG BBS Aero II. I'm gonna widen these up with a conversion kit from BlackForest.

    So FWIW...

I just finished the bell housing adapter plate for m113 to LS t56 magnum trans swap. Working on the flywheel next so hopefully I can offer the adapter plate and matching flywheel.

There short and long versions of the shifter, but both are too long for the 201.

(you must have the long one, lol)

I once laid out a six speed with 'short' variant side-by-side with a 5 speed and rods on my garage floor then measured them.

IIRC it needed to be cut down by 1.5", wish I could find the pictures, ugh!

Secretmachine, you are inspiring me to rekindle my 6 speed project and unload my dogleg

So it's time to paint the cage so the bottom can finish being welded. Cages get dropped off their foot boxes to finish welding the top and paint it while you still have access to the top.

I've been looking for color that will be bright, flashy and have an 80's vibe to it. I had been thinking of a magenta / fuschia type color. Here are some example of what I was thinking.

However the paint store I went to had nothing but subdued OEM colors. The only paint that stood out was a Mitsubishi color, Plasma Purple Metallic. I got an aerosol can of this color to test it out, I'm still not sold on it as it was not what I had in mind at all but it is admittedly a pretty paint.

Here's how it looks in real life.

    Any feedback n this combo?

Oh this is definitely bright, flashy and 80's indeed, straight from the Reiger wide body MK I Scirocco brochure, if anyone remembers that far back!

    Regards,

So Plasma Purple Metallic wasn't exactly meeting my color scheme desires. The hunt continued until I came across some House of Kolor paints. Hot Pink Pearl! The difference in the vibe these two colors give is profound. The Plasma purple looks staid and boring compared to the new paint.

Finishing up the primer before color.

Masked the car up with some drop cloth.

Laying on that sweet hot pink pearl!

    Cleared coated and unmasked.

Cage back up on its support boxes.

Dimple-die gussets will be done soon!

This is why you drop the cage to paint, when it is up, there is no access otherwise with how tight this cage is to the roofline.

More pics of the wheels. They will be changed from purple to the same hot pink pearl to match the cage.

first run of dimple die gussets are in

    little foot fetish action

Some pretty dope quality poly bushing arrived, very quickly, from Poland. Strong Flex.

Mocking up the fuel cell and surge tank

Lexan windows arrived, order got messed up but they're taking care of it. Bought locking slider cutouts for the front windows that were not included. Otherwise the quality and cut to the windows is very well done. ACW Motorsport Plastics in the UK makes them. No real fit pictures shown cause I don't want to scratch them up before it is time to get them on.

Some cutting and welding in the bay are coming up so it's time to get it clean, going to pressure wash it

Modified a Planted seat bracket for a 350z I got cheap off CL to slam and move the seat a little further back, this worked so well that I am going to do it to both the driver and passenger 190e Planted brackets in Dimples

    more updates soon!
